College Baseball: Jeremy Rathjen, Rice University
Jeremy Rathjen went 2 for 4 with one RBI and scored a run in Rice University's 3-1 win at Marshall on Thursday. Rathjen graduated from Houston Memorial High School.
Rathjen is a 2008 graduate of Memorial High School excelling on the baseball diamond and in the classroom. Playing for coach Jeremy York as a senior 2007-2008 he led the Mustangs to a 28-6 record a district title and a trip to the regional quarterfinals of the state tournament. He was named to the 5A baseball all-state academic team and was a two-time honoree on the all-District 19-5A team. Rathjen also played varsity football for two seasons earning all-district recognition as a wide receiver. He graduated from Memorial with a 6.517 GPA on a 6.0 scale and was valedictorian of the class of 2008. Born Jan. 28 1990 in Houston he is the son of Craig Rathen and Jan Miller. He is a member of the Brown College at Rice.
