Pro Baseball: Michael Lewis Goodnight, Lake County Captains

Michael Lewis Goodnight pitched five innings, striking out three and allowing six earned runs Saturday in the Lake County Captains's 6-5 loss at the West Michigan Whitecaps. Goodnight graduated from WestsiDE High School.

Goodnight is a 2008 graduate of Westside High School. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 27th round (831st overall) of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft. He did not sign with the Indians and accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of Houston. He played two seasons (2009 and 2010) for the Cougars appearing in 31 games all but two of which were starts logging a 12-12 record with a 4.96 ERA and 148 strikeouts in 150.2 innings. In 2010 Goodnight was again drafted by the Indians who took him in the 13th round (390th overall.) He signed with the Tribe and began his professional career in the New York-Penn League (short-season single-A) going 0-2 with a 4.05 ERA in four starts for Mahoning Valley. Koby A. Clemens went 0 for 3 and was walked once in the Oklahoma City Redhawks's 4-3 loss to the New Orleans Zephyrs on Saturday. Clemens graduated from Houston Memorial High School.

The son of former Major League all-star and Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens, he is a 2005 graduate of Memorial High School and an eighth-round (254th overall) selection of his hometown Houston Astros in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft. In 2009, Clemens was named California League all-star catcher, high-A all-star DH and the Astros' minor league player of the year after hitting .345 with 45 doubles, six triples, 22 home runs and 121 RBIs for Lancaster. Aaron M. Thompson pitched four innings, striking out four and allowing three earned runs Saturday in the Altoona Curve's 4-3 loss to the Harrisburg Senators. Thompson graduated from Second Baptist High School.

Thompson is a 2005 graduate of Second Baptist High School and a first-round selection (22nd overall) of the Florida Marlins in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with Marlins and is currently with the Pittsburgh Pirates pitching for Altoona in the Eastern League (AA). Entering 2011, Thompson has a career minor league record of 27-40. Ronchelle Jane Grigsby was arrested on a charge of theft - $50-$500 on June 19, 2011, the Harris County Sheriff's Office reported. Grigsby, a 18 year old black female, was booked at the Harris County Jail on June 20, 2011 and is facing a misdemeanor charge. She resides at 9550 Ella Lee. Read more...

Michael James Burk was released from custody, according to the Harris County Sheriff‘s Office. Burk is listed as living at 13010 Queensbury in Houston (77079). Bond for Mr. Burk was set at $1,500. He was reportedly arrested on June 18, 2011 on one charge of interfering with the duties of a public servant. Read more...
