Pro Baseball: Benjamin Davis Theriot, Northwest Arkansas Naturals

Benjamin Davis Theriot went 2 for 4 in the Northwest Arkansas Naturals's 2-1 loss to the Arkansas Travelers on Monday. Theriot graduated from Westside High School.

A 2006 graduate of Westside High School, Theriot played three seasons (2007 to 2009) at Texas State. He batted .295 with one home run and 14 RBIs for the Bobcats as a freshman, 2007, before hitting .339 with three home runs while driving in 45 runs as a sophomore, 2008. In 2009, Theriot batted .341 with six home runs and 36 RBIs as a senior. He was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the ninth round (272nd overall) of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He quickly advanced through the Royals' system beginning 2010 at Burlington of the Midwest League (A) before advancing to High-A at Wilimington of the Carolina League and ending the year at Double-A with NW Arkansas of the Texas League. Pro Baseball: Michael Lewis Goodnight, Lake County Captains

Michael Lewis Goodnight pitched five innings, striking out four and allowing one earned run Monday in the Lake County Captains's 3-0 loss to the Dayton Dragons. Goodnight graduated from Westside High School.

Goodnight is a 2008 graduate of Westside High School. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 27th round (831st overall) of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft. He did not sign with the Indians and accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of Houston. He played two seasons (2009 and 2010) for the Cougars appearing in 31 games all but two of which were starts logging a 12-12 record with a 4.96 ERA and 148 strikeouts in 150.2 innings. In 2010 Goodnight was again drafted by the Indians who took him in the 13th round (390th overall.) He signed with the Tribe and began his professional career in the New York-Penn League (short-season single-A) going 0-2 with a 4.05 ERA in four starts for Mahoning Valley. Ross Allen Seaton pitched six innings, striking out six and allowing no earned runs Monday in the Corpus Christi Hooks's 1-0 loss to the Midland RockHounds. Seaton graduated from Second Baptist High School.

Seaton is a 2008 graduate of Second Baptist High School and a third-round selection (109th overall) in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft by the Houston Astros. He began his pro career in 2008 pitching in three games for Greenville Houston's rookie team in the Appalachian League. Seaton posted a 13.50 ERA in four innings. Kevin James Ahrens went 1 for 5 in the Dunedin Blue Jays's 4-3 loss at the Tampa Yankees on Monday. Ahrens graduated from Houston Memorial High School.

Ahrens is a 2007 graduate of Memorial High School and was named a first-team high school all-American left fielder as a senior (2007). He was a first-round draft pick (16th overall) of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. He was named the Blue Jays third-best prospect in 2008 and the sixth best in 2009, both by Baseball America. Through 2010, he was a career .239 hitter with 21 home runs and 142 RBIs.
