College Baseball: Beau Faulk, Nicholls State University

Beau Faulk went 1 for 3 and scored a run in Nicholls State University's 5-4 loss at Stephen F. Austin State University on Thursday. Faulk graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory High School in 2008.

A 2007 graduate of Strake Jesuit High School, Faulk was a four-year letter winner. As a senior, 2006-2007, he batted .423 with five home runs and 11 doubles to earn first-team all-district honors. Faulk was also named to the Houston area high school all-star team. As a junior, 2005-2006, he also earned first-team all-district recognition. Jeff McVaney went 5 for 5 with five RBIs and scored a run in Texas State's 10-4 loss at Northwestern State on Thursday. McVaney graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory High School in 2008.

McVaney is a 2008 graduate of Strake Jesuit where he was a two-sport standout winning three varsity letters on both the football and baseball teams. On the diamond for coach Raul Garcia-Remeau, he was a three-time all-District 17-5A selection on the mound and in the outfield. McVaney was also an all-city and all-state honoree. On the gridiron, he rushed for more than 2,000 yards in his three-year career and was selected to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Top 300. He is the son of Stacey and John McVaney, who played professionally for the Baltimore Orioles. He is a management major. Read more...

Andrew Mitchell pitched five innings, striking out seven and allowing no earned runs Thursday in TCU's 17-2 win at Air Force. Mitchell graduated from High School in 2010.

Mitchell earned varsity letters at Stratford High school from 2008-2010. He was named the district MVP as a senior and second-team all-Houston by the Houston Chronicle. In 2010 he hit .400 with six home runs and posted a 1.72 ERA and a 10-1 record. He also struck out 102 batters in just 69 and 1/3 innings of work. He is the son of Lee and Kay Mitchell. Read more...

Hicks is a 2010 graduate of St. Thomas High School where he played for former Houston Astro Craig Biggio. As a senior, 2009-2010, Hicks earned district MVP honors in addition to being named all-state and all-district. He was all-district and all-state as a junior, 2008-2009, and also earned all-district recognition during his sophomore season, 2007-2008. Hicks played summer baseball for the Houston Heat.
