Regis School honors military with Veteran's Day program
published Nov. 22, 2011 - Story by Franz Osorio
The Regis School honored veterans at its annual Veteran's Day celebration.
The event was presided over by Dr. Robert Ivany, president of the University of St. Thomas and retired Major General of the U.S. Army. Dr. Ivany addressed guests on being True to the God You Serve. In his delivery, Dr. Ivany expressed the importance of respect, humility and being good people.
The event began with a presentation of Colors by the Scarborough High School JROTC. During the ceremony, The Regis School honored alumni on active duty and veterans. The day's events were drawn to a close by the sixth grade hand bell choir's presentation of Taps.
Middle school students created My Heroes posters in honor of veterans. The posters were on display until Monday, Nov. 14. In a press release, one neighbor of the school said, "I express my deep thanks and joy for the expressions of love and remembrance proudly displayed along the fence of the school."
