WHAM selects a new initiative director

West Houston Assistance Ministries Inc., or WHAM, has hired Diana Seifert as the director of development to raise significant funds for programs, capital campaigns, and operations. Seifert has more than 13 years in development, with experience as a fund development leader.
Prior to joining WHAM, Seifert held the role of director of development at DePelchin Children's Center, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston, and Baylor College of Medicine.
She has joined our team as we launch our $1 million capital campaign initiative," Shirley Downing, executive director and CEO of WHAM, said. Her strengths include relationship building, prospective donor research, management and securing significant gifts. These are much-needed assets as we begin phase one of this campaign."
The initiative is called Campaign for WHAM: Building your community. Keeping families together." It is designed to expand the building site so that more services can be offered. Also, as donations approach $1 million, the building's loan debt may be retired. This will free up funds for more services to families in crisis.
Seifert is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Houston. She believes in the ethics training and guidelines that AFP is instrumental in as fundraisers take on new roles as trusted counselors.
Her academic background includes a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Phoenix. She also will receive a masters in business administration in September.
WHAM is a non-profit organization and offers family program services which include nutritious food, clean clothing, job-search access, financial assistance, ESL classes and back-to-school supplies to those in need, regardless of race, gender, creed, nationality, age, disability, or religious preference.
