HS football preview: Memorial v. Taylor
Memorial (6-5, 4-3) will face off against Taylor (10-1, 6-0) in 5A Area playoff action Friday night at Rhodes Memorial Stadium.
Memorial quarterback Wayne Taylor will team up with running back Boomer White to bring a serious rushing attack to the Taylor defense. Taylor and White combined for 2,923 yards of rushing and 32 touchdowns in the regular season.
The Taylor Lions will depend on their star running back Derrick Lair, whose 1,492 rushing yards lead the team. He ran in 13 touchdowns on the year, while third-down back Treveon Taylor scored 11 times from the backfield.
The Lions' defense is a formidable foe against the passing game, intercepting nine passes with eight different defensemen this year.
The kickoff for this playoff grudge match is set for 7 p.m.
