West Houston Assistance Ministries fed 864 people in December
West Houston Assistance Ministries received 14,240 pounds of non-perishable
food donations in December, says spokesperson Beau G. Heyen.
"864 individuals were fed, including 32,051 pounds of food," Heyen says,
adding that 17 volunteers from WHAM's food pantry aided in the effort.
WHAM also held a holiday toy drive that ended up delivering gifts to 739
children in 269 families, Heyen says. WHAM also reports that 25 additional
families were "adopted" for the holidays by different companies,
organizations, and donor families.
"We are in great need of warm clothing for clients, such as hats, coats,
scarves, jackets, gloves and socks," Heyen says. "Individuals,
organizations, businesses, churches, and schools can host a Warm Clothing
Drive by calling CARE Ministries at 713-977-9942."
