HS girls basketball preview: Memorial vs. Mayde Creek
Memorial will battle Mayde Creek in girls basketball action on Friday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Memorial.
"Mayde Creek is a very explosive team," Memorial coach Jyusef Larry said. "Anytime you play against a player as explosive as Jazzmine Parker, you better make sure that you are focused on limiting the amount of good looks she gets. She's going to score, that's why TCU wants, so we better always know where she is on the court."
Last month, Memorial rolled to a 56-38 win over Mayde Creek.
"We have to do a better job of securing defensive rebounds this time if we want to have a favorable result," Larry said.
Memorial has a 13-12 record on the season and is 6-1 in district play. On Tuesday, the Memorial Mustangs beat Morton Ranch, 39-12, as Ellen Anderson scored 13 points for Memorial.
Mayde Creek is 20-10 on the year and 3-4 in district. On Tuesday, the Mayde Creek Rams lost to Cinco Ranch, 53-58, as Ashleigh Nwanguma scored 22 for Cinco Ranch.
After Friday’s game, Memorial plays at Cinco Ranch on Tueysday.
Mayde Creek’s next game is with Taylor also on Tuesday.
