Racquet club's restaurant passes inspection, some problems corrected
The food facilities at a Hunters Creek racquet club passed inspection by Harris County last month, though inspectors did correct several problems on site.
The restaurant at Houston Racquet Club #1, located at 10719 Memorial, was inspected on Dec. 22. While the facilities passed, they also received 19 demerits out of a possible 100. An establishment must receive a demerit score of 20 or higher to automatically generate a follow-up inspection.
The problems corrected by inspectors on site included a "good hygienic practices" violation, which can pertain to open beverage containers in the kitchen, unsafe hand-washing practices, and eating, drinking or smoking in unapproved areas. The other corrected violations were for "toxic items properly labeled/stored/used" and "manual/mechanical ware-washing and sanitizing." Problems observed but not corrected included a failure to provide accurate thermometers and food surfaces issues.
The racquet club scored somewhat better on its previous inspection, earning 11 demerits on July 6, 2010.
