Memorial grad Koby Clemens paces Oklahoma City in victory

Memorial High School graduate Koby Clemens helped the Oklahoma City Redhawks defeat the Nashville Sounds, 4-3, in baseball action on Wendsday.

Clemens went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. On the season, Clemens is batting .286 with 19 RBIs and five home runs.

Koby is the oldest son of seven-time Cy Young Award-winner Roger Clemens.

At Memorial High School he hit .413 as a junior with 4 home runs and 23 RBIs in 2004. In his senior year he earned all-state honors with a .519 batting average, 5th-best in the Houston area, and was second in the Houston area in both home runs and RBIs. Though not his forte, he also had success on the pitcher's mound, with a 7-1 record and a 1.75 ERA.

Clemens was selected by the Astros in the eighth round of the 2005 Draft and signed on July 14, 2005. He played baseball and football at Memorial High School, before signing with the University of Texas to play third base in 2005.

In 2009, Koby won the California League batting title, hitting .345 and leading all of Minor League Baseball in RBIs with 123. He finished the 2009 season as Offensive Player of the Year for the Houston Astros organization. In 2010, Koby was awarded Corpus Christi Hooks Co-Player of the Year, leading the team in home runs, RBIs, doubles, runs scored and slugging.

Koby Aaron Clemens was born December 4, 1986.

The Oklahoma City RedHawks are a minor league baseball team based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The team, which plays in the Pacific Coast League, is the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
