Memorial grad Koby Clemens homers in second straight game
Memorial High School graduate Koby A. Clemens belted his 7th home run of the season as the Oklahoma City Redhawks pounded the Round Rock Express, 11-1, in minor league action Thursday.
In the bottom of the the fourth inning, Clemens belted a two-out, solo home run to left field, his second in as many games, extending the lead to 8-0.
On the season, Clemens is batting .260 with seven home runs, 29 RBIs and four stolen bases.
The son of former Major League all-star and Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens, he is a 2005 graduate of Memorial High School and an eighth-round (254th overall) selection of his hometown Houston Astros in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft. From 2005 to 2010, Clemens appeared in 605 games in the Astros' system making it as high as Double-A Corpus Christi of the Texas League. Through 2010, Clements was a career .270 hitter with 79 home runs and 378 RBI. In 2009, Clemens was named California League all-star catcher, high-A all-star DH and the Astros' minor league player of the year after hitting .345 with 45 doubles, six triples, 22 home runs and 121 RBIs for Lancaster. Clemens was born Dec. 4, 1986, in Houston.
