HS Football: Memorial defeats Stratford
Memorial defeated Stratford in high school football action Thursday.
The Mustangs, 1-0, won the game 14-0. Memorial scored one touchdown in the first quarter and one in the fourth quarter. Running back Boomer White scored on a 30-yard jaunt in the first quarter. On the night, White carried the ball 30 times for 186 yards and a score. Wide receiver Ryan Baumgartner only caught one pass in the game, but he made it count. His reception was good for 28 yards and a touchdown pass from quarterback Tyler McCloskey. The scoring strike was the only pass McCloskey completed all game long. Memorial rushed for 298 yards and passed for 28 in their season-opening victory. The Mustangs will host Westfield on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Tully Stadium. Stratford, 0-1, had trouble moving the ball; rushing for 69 yards and passing for only 46. Stratford will visit Langham Creek on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Berry Center.Related Stories
