Houston CPA Society to hold health care symposium in Memorial
The Houston CPA Society, with several other medical organizations, will discuss changes in health care, health care reform legislation and regulatory updates at a symposium on Sept. 23 at the Norris Conference Center in Houston CityCenter., 803 Town and Country.
The symposium will feature speakers and panels on a wide range of topics. The keynote speaker will be Dr. John Zerwas, anesthesiologist and chief medical officer of the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. Zerwas will give an update on the health care issues from the Texas Legislative session.
Dr. Leonard Zwelling, professor of medicine and pharmacology at the University of Texas, will give a presentation, "Code Red Code Blue," that gives an updated view of health care policy and process development. Zwelling is highly regarded in the field. He was recently recognized by the Houston CPA society for providing outstanding continuing professional education.
Stephen Cobb, ConceraMEd; Ayse McCracken, Memorial Hermann; and Reji Vaghese, Houston ENT will form a panel to discuss practice options for the present and future in "What's a Physician to Do?" Lorie Tabak, Baylor College of Medicine, will discuss progress and plans concerning finances and academic medicine. Many more speakers, who will cover more topics, are planned for the event.
Registration for the event includes breakfast, lunch, materials for the event, door-prize drawings and admittance to all sessions. The fees range from $35 for students and $139 for non-members. After Sept. 25 prices will increase by $25. To register, visit www.houstoncpa.org or call 713-622-7733.
