Houston Tennis Association collecting donations for military troops
The Houston Tennis Association will host an Adopt-A-Unit Packing Party for military troops in Afghanistan on Saturday, Oct. 8.
HTA league team members and individuals donated and collected personal items such as socks, toothpaste, protein bars, drink mixes, hand sanitizers, lip balm and letters of support to send to troops.
The HTA is partnering with the United States Tennis Association in the Adopt-A-Unit program, adopting units of approximately 75 to 100 soldiers currently deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The care packages will be followed by portable tennis equipment from the USTA on behalf of HTA.
The party will be held at 1 p.m. at the HTA offices, located at 3535 Briar Park Drive, Suite 215.
