State representative candidate to kick off campaign at Memorial Wine Cellar
Grant Johnston, a candidate for state representative in the 133rd District, will hold a campaign kick-off event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 9 at Memorial Wine Cellar.
The event is being hosted by Johnston’s wife, Erin Jones Johnston, and his campaign manager, Sylvan Rodriguez. Johnston filed for the seat with the Harris County Republican Party on Dec. 2.
“We wanted to start having these events months ago, but the recent redistricting debacle meant we did not know where we would run,” Johnston said in a press release. “My home address changed state legislature districts three times in the last few months.”
Health care and education will be the cornerstones of Johnston’s platform.
“I will run a family-first style of campaign,” Johnston said in the press release. “That means my focus is going to be on the issues that affect all families such as affordable and available health care and a great education system. I just became a father for the first time in September, and I want to leave a better Texas for my daughter and all of our children.”
Johnston is a lifelong Republican and Houston resident. He attended Bellaire High School, as well as the University of Houston and South Texas College of Law. He is currently an associate attorney with Sullins, Johnston, Rohrbach & Magers.
Memorial Wine Cellar is located at 7951 Katy Freeway in Houston. For more information, call 832-452-3063.
