Houston-based law firm wins verdict for crash survivor
Fittz Zehl LLP recently won a verdict for a woman injured in a roll-over crash on a Greyhound bus that occurred in December of 2007.
Ashley Reedy, a 24-year-old from Colorado, was awarded $7.2 million by a Dallas jury. Reedy alleged that the driver of the bus was using a cell phone while driving in icy conditions. The driver stopped the bus quickly as he came to another wreck and lost control of the bus.
Fitts Zehl, LLP attoreny's Ryan Zehl and Kevin Haynes represented Reedy during the three-week trial. In a press release, Zehl said, "The verdict will enable Ashley to have lower-back surgery next month for injuries received in the crash. We hope it sends the message that companies like Greyhound will be held responsible for any injuries they cause."
The attorney's presented evidence that showed the driver was at fault for the accident due to cell phone use. Reedy was awarded $2.2 million in damages and an additional $4.8 million in punitive damages.
