Houston police investigate fatal shooting on Augusta Drive
Police continue to investigate after a woman was found shot to death in the 800 block of Augusta Drive.
Houston police say at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 16, they found 30-year-old Gelareh Bagherzadeh dead, slumped over the steering wheel of a car in the driveway at 894 August Drive.
About 45 minutes earlier, officers responded to a shots-fired complaint in the area, but left after finding no evidence of foul play.
Police discovered Bagherzadeh after being called back to August Drive, according to a Houston Police Department news release.
The car where Bagherzadeh was found had crashed into the garage door of the residence, according to the release. First responders say when they arrived, the car was running and its tires were spinning on the driveway pavement.
Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, according to the release.
Investigators interviewed witnesses who reported hearing several gunshots, followed by a crash and squealing tires, according to the release.
