Memorial Hermann named one of the nation's top 15 health systems
Memorial Hermann's low mortality rate, better survival and fewer complications have helped name it one of the country's top 15 health care systems.
Thomson Reuters provides the recognition based on clinical outcomes, patient safety, patient satisfaction and operational efficiency. More than 300 health care systems were looked at to create the top 15.
"We are extremely delighted and proud to receive this distinguished recognition," Dan Wolterman, president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, said in a press release. "This award was based on objective public data not reputation."
Eight areas were looked at to determine which health care systems deserved to honor. They included mortality rate, readmission rate, adherence to clinical standards and HCAHPS patient survey score. The study made use of public data from the 2010 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review.
