The Levant Foundation gives $4.3 million to Awty International School
The contribution will benefit the school's "Building for Our Future Capital Campaign" and master plan, which will set up a teacher leadership and excellence fund.
The master plan also includes the expansion of the Lower School, the creation of a new preschool building and a new parking garage.
Levant Foundation Executive Director Sonny Hudson presented the school with the first installment of $1.8 million on Jan. 31. The school board and community of parents has also raised $1.5 million for the campaign.
Stephen Codrington, head of school, said in a press release, "This gift is a significant step forward in reaching our capital campaign goal, monies that are needed to fulfill all four phases of the schools ambitious master plan. We are deeply grateful to The Levant Foundation for their continued support of the school and its educational mission."
Jamal Daniel, chairman of Awty's board of trustees, created the Levant Foundation in order to fund academic, artistic and educational programs. The foundation is also a major supporter of Awty's Annual Fund and fundraising gala, as well as athletic programs at the school.
The Awty International School is located at 7455 Awty School Lane.
