Three generations of women volunteer for Chapelwood Spring Thing Market
Three generations of women will volunteer for this year's Chapelwood Spring Thing Market, which opens with a preview party from 5-8:30 p.m. on March 6 at the Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay, Houston.
Admission to the preview party costs $10 and includes hors d'oeuvres. The market will open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 7 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 8. Lunch on both days will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $10.
The event benefits missions for women and children and features nearly 100 vendors of home decor, women's and children's clothing, accessories, food and specialty Easter designs, as well as a large silent auction.
Betty Sullivan volunteered for the event for many years until her passing in August 2011. Sullivan played an integral role in organizing the market. Today, her daughter, Sherry, will be helping with the luncheon, and her husband, Jim, will continue helping with selling luncheon tickets at the door and checking vendors. Sullivan's granddaughter Misty Morales is the third generation to help with the luncheon.
To honor Sullivan's memory, the former Rose Room will now be named Betty's Tea Room.
