Memorial alum scores in minor league loss
Kevin James Ahrens, a 2007 graduate of Memorial High School, scored once and drove in one but the Dunedin Blue Jays fell to the Lakeland Flying Tigers 9-6 in Class A minor league baseball action on Thursday.
In high school, Ahrens was named a first-team high school all-American left fielder as a senior. He was a first-round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2007 Major League Baseball draft, chosen 16th overall.
Ahrens was named by Baseball America as the Blue Jays third-best prospect in 2008 and the sixth best in 2009. During his minor league career, he has hit .239 with 21 home runs and 142 RBI.
