She's taking science path to help others

Cara Lewis

With the interests of others at heart, Cara Lewis said she would like to develop a career in which she can help other people overcome their personal challenges. "I really want to do neuropsychology," she said, "because I want to help people have a better understanding of human behavior. I want to help my future patients, to treat them and help them in some way make their lives easier. I want to help them be able to help themselves. If that means further research, then that's what I'll do."

Favorite class: "My favorite class is English, but my favorite subject is science. My English teacher, when we have classes, she gets really involved and we study interesting things. But science is my favorite subject because I want to do neuropsychology as a major."

Favorite things to do after class: "Hang out with friends and family, watch movies, talk."

Favorite book: " 'The Giver' because it was the first book in school that actually interested me. I didn't get it until halfway through the book, then when I did, I thought it was a really cool concept."

Favorite music genre: Rock

Favorite TV show: " 'Breaking Bad' -- it's about a chemistry teacher that finds out he has cancer and is trying to support his family. It brings up the questions of what lengths would you go to support your family."

Favorite website: Victoria's Secret

Favorite movie: " 'Contagion' would be one of my favorite movies."

Ambition: "I plan to attend the University of Houston for my undergrad studies, then I have big plans to attend Berkeley and do two programs -- neuropsychology and probably neurology. Then I want to open a practice with my brother."
