Former radio and current YouTube personality Ted Williams visited residents of The Women's Home on May 23.
Williams shared stories about his comeback and discussed his new memoir, "A Golden Voice: How Faith, Hard Work and Humility Brought Me from the Streets to Salvation."
The memoir details his comeback after recovering from substance abuse and being homeless. His second chance at radio success came after a reporter discovered him panhandling on an interstate in Ohio.
Before the reception, Williams spoke at the Lester and Sue Smith Luncheon Series, sponsored by Wells Fargo, and signed copies of his memoir.
The Women's Home helps women in the Houston area who struggle with histories of addiction, mental illness, homelessness and past abuse and lack job skills or education.
