HPARD to offer summer food service program
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department announced its summer food service program to run Monday, June 4 through Aug. 17.
The program provides free lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a snack from 3-4 p.m. for children 1-18 years old at 460 sites throughout Houston. Participating sites include all 59 HPARD community centers as well as numerous churches, apartment complexes, recreation/learning centers, youth organizations, schools and nonprofit agencies. Meals will include one serving of milk, two or more servings of vegetables and/or fruits, one serving of grain or bread and one serving of meat or meat alternative in compliance with federal and state requirements. All food is prepared off site.
