Houston Christian HS grad Ryan Lollis drives Modesto nuts

Houston Christian High School graduate Ryan Lollis helped lead the San Jose Giants past the Modesto Nuts, 6-5, in minor league baseball action Thursday, June 14.

Lollis went 2-for-4, with a double and a run scored.

On the season, Lollis, an outfielder, is batting .307, with two home runs and 25 RBI. Lollis is a 2005 graduate of Houston Christian and a 20th-round selection (601st overall) of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft.

Lollis did not sign with the Pirates and accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of Missouri. He appeared in 217 games over four seasons (2006-2009) for the Tigers batting .309 in his college career with nine home runs and 164 RBI.

Lollis was drafted for a third time in 2009 this time by the San Francisco Giants, who took him in the 37th round (1,107th overall) Lollis began his pro career in 2009 appearing in 52 games for Salem-Kaizer of the Northwest League (short-season single-A) batting .312. Lollis spent 2010 with Augusta of the South Atlantic League (single-A) posting a .288 batting average. He was born Dec. 16, 1986 in Houston.
