Police investigate death of child
The death of a 3-year-old girl is under investigation by Houston Police, according to a press release from the Houston Police Department.
The child, of 7722 Windswept Lane in Houston, drowned apparently by accident around 3 p.m. Friday, June 15 at her home, the release noted. Sgt. K. Deese and Officer J. Dominguez of the Houston Police Department Homicide Division reported that the child was allegedly left inside the home while her father was working in the yard. The father is reported to have gone to check on the child after a few minutes and eventually found her at the bottom of the backyard pool.
The child was taken to and pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Service has not yet verified her identity.
The investigation is ongoing with no charges having yet been filed, the release stated.
