Houston Tennis Association to host preteen and junior tournaments
Preteens and juniors can sign up now for two upcoming Houston Tennis Association tournaments.
The one-day June 23 preteen tournament is a nonsanctioned event that features a 60-foot court for children ages 9-10 and a 36-foot court for those 8 and younger. The deadline to sign up is Sunday, June 17.
The deadline to register for the July 7-8 HTA Championship Junior Major Zone tournament is June 24.
The Championship Major Zone for boys and girls ages 12-18 offers singles and doubles USTA championship divisions.
Players in the major zone event earn qualifying and ranking points and are seeking super championship status.
Entrants can register online at www.houstontennis.org. Tournament ID numbers are 800029512 for the 10-and-younger tournament and 800010712 for the championship junior open.
The tournaments will be at Lee LeClear, Memorial Park and Homer Ford tennis centers, and at several clubs.
There is no admission fee for spectators. For more information, call the Houston Tennis Association at 281-580-8313.
The 2011 tournaments attracted 393 entrants.
