Second Baptist HS grad Ross Seaton pitches a gem for Corpus Christi

Second Baptist High School graduate Ross Seaton pitched a fantastic game Friday, but the bullpen blew the lead, and Corpus Christi fell to the Frisco Rough Riders, 3-2.

Seaton threw seven innings of seven hit ball; striking out seven and giving up only two runs. On the season, Seaton is 5-3, with a 4.12 ERA. He has stuck out 43 batters.

Seaton is a 2008 graduate of Second Baptist High School and a third-round selection (109th overall) in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft by the Houston Astros.

He began his pro career in 2008 pitching in three games for Greenville, Houston's rookie team in the Appalachian League. Seaton posted a 13.50 ERA in four innings.

He spent 2010 with Lancaster of the California League (advanced single-A) making 28 starts and logging a 6-13 mark with a 6.64 ERA.

Seaton was born Sept. 18, 1989, in Sugar Land.
