Police investigate fatal shooting

Three people died and two others were wounded in a shooting that took place around 3:15 a.m. June 20 at 9850 Westpark Drive in Houston.

According to a Houston Police Department press release, Coy Thompson, 23, Erica Rochelle Dotson, 30, and Carlos Durell Dorsey, 31, were killed in the shooting. Willie Watkins, 37, and Frazier Othel Thompson, 31, were injured. Watkins and Frazier Thompson were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital and Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, the release noted.

According to the report, HPD Homicide Division sergeants R. Chandler and J. Brooks, and senior police officers K. Carr and C. Cegielski arrived at the Westpark Drive location and discovered the five shooting victims. Through an initial investigation the officers learned there had been a concert at the location and the shooting, which was allegedly targeting Coy Thompson, began as people were exiting the club.

Officers later learned that Coy Thompson, nicknamed “Poppa C,” had been involved in a domestic dispute June 17 where someone had threatened to kill him. A shooting similar to the one at Westpark Drive, and also involving Coy Thompson, took place last November, resulting in the death of Dominique Brown, nicknamed “Money Clip.” No arrests have been made in either case.

Citizens with information regarding the June 20 shooting may contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
