Police investigate fatal traffic crash

Three people died and one was injured as the result of a car wreck that occurred around 5:40 p.m. June 20 at 2500 N. Eldridge Parkway in Houston.

According to a press release from the Houston Police Department, the victims included a 40-year-old man and two women, one 40 years of age and the other 33. The 33-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident; the 40-year-old man and woman were airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where they eventually died. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Science is still in the process of verifying the victims' identities.

The release gave the following account of the incident as reported by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sgt. N. Perry and Office C. Tosso: a blue Ford Mustang, heading south on Eldridge Parkway, hydroplaned and veered into the northbound lane, where a red Toyota Corolla allegedly hit the Mustang's passenger side, killing the Corolla's passenger instantly. A northbound Toyota Tacoma, trying to bypass the wreck, allegedly hit the Mustang's left rear side. The Mustang's driver was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital with nonfatal injuries; the Tacoma's driver was unharmed.

The release noted that police believe streets wet from the rain contributed to the accident.
