Memorial artist wins in national contest
Local artist Judith-Ann Saks has won a national third-place award with a painting in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution American Heritage Contest.
Her painting, titled "Liberty," was the winner in the Enhancing the Present: Contemporary Expressions of our Heritage contest. The painting depicts the Statue of Liberty in a cubistic extensionism style. Saks represented the Lady Washington Chapter of the NSDAR.
Saks' art is displayed at Saint Luke's Hospital, the Port of Houston time capsule and the library at Winsor Castle. Her lithographs of the Houston Ship Channel for the Bicentennial of the Port of Houston can be found at the Smithsonian Institution.
She has won several awards from the Art League of Houston, various festivals and NSDAR competitions. Her work can be viewed online at www.SaksArt.com.
