Massage Heights, Texas School of Massage combine on scholarship program
Massage Height locations in Houston and Dallas have teamed up with the Texas School of Massage to provide scholarships for those wishing to purse a career in massage therapy but don't have the necessary funds.
According to a press release, the new scholarship program will allocate approximately $5,000 to deserving individuals that are striving for a career in the field.
"In the case of massage therapists, the demand far exceeds the supply," said J.D. Busch, the regional developer at Massage Heights' Houston and Dallas. "And with so many people looking for work these days, we thought that it only made sense to offer deserving individuals the chance to get back into the work force with a dynamic new career. Once they receive their license as a massage therapist, jobs will be waiting for them."
The course of study in massage therapy can be completed between six months to one year, depending upon the class schedule chosen. Dr. James Wray of the Texas School of Massage says the best individuals suited to a career in massage therapy are those who like helping people.
"The best candidates for a career in massage therapy are people who enjoy helping others and who are genuinely empathetic," Wray said. "In many cases, we find that individuals who have considered working in the medical community are well suited to massage therapy because this career path gives them the opportunity to serve people, both by providing relief from discomfort and by enhancing their clients' general well-being."
To apply for the scholarship, prospective candidates can fill out an application online by visiting the Houston career page at bit.ly/T112aB or the Dallas career page at bit.ly/T11fdY.
