Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident that happened at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, July 28 in the 5800 block of Westheimer Road, according to a police press release.

A 32-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending next-of-kin notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Witness told officers that the man was riding a white Triumph Speed motorcycle west on Westheimer at a high rate of speed when the driver of a black Toyota Camry tried to turn right from Augusta Street onto Westheimer Road and was struck by the motorcycle, police Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer D. Phan reported.

Witnesses said the man on the motorcycle and the drivers of a black Dodge and another black vehicle were racing on Westheimer Road. The Dodge and the other vehicle left the scene after the motorcycle struck the Toyota.
