Houston Christian alum Ryan Lollis rolling along for Fresno

Houston Christian High School graduate Ryan Lollis kept on hitting, but Fresno fell to Colorado Springs, 9-4, in Triple-A baseball Saturday, July 29.

Lollis went 1-for-4, with a run scored, and one driven in.

On the season, Lollis is batting .319, with two home runs and 11 RBIs.

Lollis is a 2005 graduate of Houston Christian and a 20th-round selection (601st overall) of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft.

Lollis did not sign with the Pirates and accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of Missouri. He appeared in 217 games over four seasons (2006 to 2009) for the Tigers batting .309 with nine home runs and 164 RBI.

Katy HS grad Carter Jurica puts Blaze in haze

Katy High School graduate Carter Jurica had a great night at the plate, as the San Lose Giants beat the Bakersfield Blaze 8-6.
Jurica went 3-for-5, with a run scored in the victory.

On the season, Jurica is batting .293, with three home runs, and 38 RBIs.

Jurica is a 2007 graduate of Katy High School. He went on to play college baseball at Kansas State for three seasons (2008 to 2010) posting a career average of .333 with 20 home runs and 131 RBIs. As a junior, 2010, Jurica was named a Big XII Conference all-star left fielder after batting .363 with 13 homers and 69 RBIs.

He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round (105th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Jurica played 62 games during 2010 with the Giants Low Single-A affiliate, Salem-Kaiser, of the Northwest League. He batted .216 with three home runs and 31 RBIs.
