Memorial HS grad Graham Godfrey stellar on hill for Sacramento
Memorial High School graduate Graham Godfrey didn't come up with the win, but he pitched a standout game for the Sacramento River Cats, as they beat the Memphis Redbirds 5-2 Wednesday.
Godfrey started and pitched six innings, allowing only one earned run. He gave up three hits and struck out four batters.
On the season, Godfrey is 9-1, with an ERA of 3.18. He has struck out 57 batters this season.
Godfrey is a 2003 graduate of Memorial High School. He played baseball for the College of Charleston, where as a junior (2006) he went 8-2 with a 3.57 ERA in 16 games (15 starts) striking out 101 in 98.1 innings.
Godfrey was drafted in the 34th round (1,020th overall) of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Godfrey was born Aug. 9, 1984 in Tampa, Florida.
