Heights energy company sues Memorial contractor over alleged missing acres

A Heights-area energy company is suing a Memorial contractor and mineral lease brokers over claims they breached their contracts by failing to deliver purchased acres.

Heights-area ZaZa Energy filed a lawsuit Aug. 9 in the Harris County District Court against Emerald Leasing, FLMK Acquisition, Randy Parsley, of Memorial, and others, citing breach of contract and negligence.

ZaZa says in May 2010, it hired Parsley to acquire and develop land to help the company expand and Parsley, in turn, hired Emerald and FLMK to act as mineral lease brokers for these acquisitions.

Although ZaZa paid Emerald and FLMK for the purchase of the leases, the companies have yet to deliver all the purchased acres, according to the brief.

ZaZa is seeking injunctive relief, attorney's fees, court costs and damages. It is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Joe Holzer.
