Lutheran North High releases 2012 football schedule
Lutheran North High School released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.
Led by coach Eric DeHaven, the Fighting Eagles went 2-8 overall and 0-7 in District TAPPS 4-II last season, failing to make the postseason. This season, new coach Thump Phillips will look to turn things around.
The Lions begin the 2012-13 season on the road when they square off against O'Connell on Friday, Aug. 31.
Lutheran North hits the road the following week with a matchup against Bay Area Christian on Friday, Sept. 7. The team returns home to battle Legacy Christian Academy on Friday, Sept. 14, to be followed by another home game against Woodland Christian on Friday, Sept. 21. Then it's back on the road for a tough district battle against Second Baptist on Thursday, Sept. 27.
To kick off October, the team remains on the road with a contest against Fort Bend Christian Academy on Friday, Oct. 5, followed by a home game against Westbury Christian on Friday, Oct. 19. A visit to Northland Christian is next, on Friday, Oct. 26, followed by a visit to Lutheran South on Friday, Nov. 2.
The Lions finish their season hosting Pope John XXIII on Friday, Nov. 9.
All Thursday and Friday games begin at 7 p.m., while all Saturday contests start at 6 p.m.
Should the Lions qualify for the postseason, the first round of the 5A Texas state playoffs would begin the weekend of Nov. 16.
