Houston Christian releases 2012 football schedule
Houston Christian High School released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.
Led by coach Mike Johnston, the Mustangs went 1-10 overall and 1-5 in District TAPPS 3-I last season, failing to make the postseason. This season, the team will look to make some adjustments to try and qualify for the playoffs.
The Mustangs begin the 2012-13 season at home with a battle against Northland Christian on Friday, Aug. 31.
Houston Christian remains home the following week with a matchup against East Bernard on Friday, Sept. 7. The Mustangs hit the road in Week 3 to square off against Kinkaid on Friday, Sept. 14, followed by another home game against St. John's on Friday, Sept. 21. They remain home for a contest against Trinity Valley on Friday, Sept. 28.
In October, the team plays its first three games on the road with a contest against Fort Worth Country Day on Friday, Oct. 5, followed by St. Andrew's on Thursday, Oct. 11 and Kipp Academy on Friday, Oct. 19.
The Mustangs finish their season hosting Episcopal on Friday, Oct. 26.
All Thursday and Friday games begin at 7 p.m., while all Saturday contests start at 6 p.m.
Should the Mustangs qualify for the postseason, the first round of the playoffs would begin the weekend of Nov. 16.
Houston Christian plays its home games at the 400-seat Mustang Field, located at 2700 W. Sam Houston Parkway North, Houston.
