Houston attorney accuses Spring Branch worker of defamation
A Houston attorney is suing for a minimum of $1 million after, he says, a Spring Branch Goodwill employee posted lies about him on Facebook.
Houston attorney Dwane L. Todd filed a lawsuit Aug. 16 in the Harris County District Court against Brandon Wolf, who works at the Spring Branch Goodwill Industries, citing defamation. Todd says on Aug. 14, Wolf spread lies about him via Facebook, stating that he is wanted for alleged crimes against the gay and lesbian community.
The allegations stem from Todd's representation of a client in the sale of the Charles Botts Collection of material, which deals with the lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual community, according to the brief.
The suit alleges Wolf seriously damaged Todd's reputation, as Wolf has 1,640 Facebook friends who read the false statements.
Todd is seeking $1 million in actual damages, exemplary damages and court costs. He is representing himself in the case.
