Spring Branch ISD earns state financial superior rating
The Spring Branch Independent School recently earned the highest possible rating of "superior achievement" from the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.
Known as the School FIRST award, the honor is based on data reported for the 2010-2011 school year. The district received the program's highest possible score, a perfect 70. This is the 10th consecutive year that the SBISD received the distinction, according to a press release.
The School FIRST system was created by the Texas Legislature in 2001. The program uses 20 financial indicators to rate a district's compliance on financial standards that include financial management practices and management of financial resources.
SBISD Associate Superintendent of Finance Karen Wilson presented the financial data and information on this year's award at a board of trustees meeting Oct. 22. A public hearing was also conducted on the School FIRST results.
The Spring Branch Independent School District is located at 1050 N. Dairy Ashford Road, Houston.
