Uptown Houston Holiday Lighting events announced

The 27th annual Uptown Houston Holiday Lighting will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22 at Post Oak Boulevard between Westheimer and San Felipe.

According to a press release, the event will kickoff with holiday music and a variety of concessions, including funnel cakes, cotton candy, kettle corn and holiday drinks. A portion of proceeds from concession sales will benefit Be An Angel, an organization that helps special needs children, and the Houston Area Urban League, an organization that assists African Americans and other minorities with their needs.

The event will feature a Merry Holiday Stage Show at 5 p.m. with performances from various local groups, including the Houston Concert Band, Houston Choral Showcase, Houston Children's Chorus and the Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir.

Santa and his reindeer will make an appearance at 7 p.m., lighting up more than half a million lights on 80 Christmas trees along the boulevard and building rooftops.

The night will end with a fireworks display, along with the sounds of favorite holiday tunes.

The event is free and open to the public.

Parking is available for free at Centre at Post Oak, Dillard's Garage, Four Oaks Place, The Galleria, Post Oak Central, Post Oak Plaza and Williams Tower.
