Fire reported in Houston, Nov. 15

The Houston Fire Department responded to a fire that occurred in the 5000 block of Longmont in Houston at 3 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.

The resident escaped the home safely after being alerted to the fire from a smoke detector's alarm.

According to the press release, "Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming from the townhome and heavier smoke inside the home. Approximately 30 firefighters responded to the incident which was tapped out in 40 minutes. The fire place had been burning throughout the night and embers caught the floor on fire. The fire then spread between the floors and in the wall. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the neighboring townhomes."

Damage from the fire is estimated at $150,000.

Houston Fire Department was the primary department on the scene.
