Westside High grad Cumbo contributes to University of South Alabama victory
Houston native Rachel Cumbo played for University of South Alabama in a 71-61 win at home against Sam Houston State University on Saturday, Dec. 8, according to University of South Alabama's website.
The freshman guard helped the Jaguars improve to 7-3 on the season.
University of South Alabama's next game is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 on the road against Central Florida.
She is a 2011 graduate of Westside High School in Houston, where she was a four-year letter winner under head coach Troy Gillespie.
As a senior, Cumbo was named first-team all-district after averaging 14.7 points per game, with five rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.1 steals.
She helped WHS to a second-place finish in its conference with a 26-11 record and was selected to participate in the Greater Houston Area All-Star Game in the spring of her senior year, where she recorded nine points.
The sports marketing major is the daughter of Eddie and Monique Cumbo.
