Grace School students spread Christmas cheer at retirement community
Grace School students perform a caroling program for the residents of Treemont Retirement Community.
Second-graders from Grace School recently visited residents of the Treemont Retirement Community to spread the Christmas spirit.
According to a press release, students performed a 30-minute caroling program, distributed holiday cards and spent time with each resident.
"Visiting Treemont Retirement Community has become a tradition for our second-grade classes each year," Debbie Hanlen, second grade teacher, said in the release. "The children enjoy the opportunity to brighten someone's day."
The tradition has become a learning experience for students.
"Service learning is important at Grace School, and this project is just one example of how we teach our students to love their neighbors," Michelle Larson, second grade teacher, said in the release. "It not only benefits the residents, but the students as well."
