Memorial athletes in action: Women's basketball

The following women's basketball players, both with Memorial high school ties, have scheduled action this week:

Jamiyla DeBoise, San Jose State University
Position: Forward
High school: Westside High School
This week: Saturday, Dec. 22, at California State University-Fullerton
About DeBoise: DeBoise is a freshman forward for San Jose State University. She is a 2012 graduate of Westside High School in Houston, where she won first-team All-Houston Independent School District honors and was selected as an All-Tournament performer at the Spring Branch Independent School District Invitational. During her senior year, DeBoise was a member of the High School All-Star Team of Greater Houston as well as the Greater Houston Area Girls Basketball Association All-Star Team. She earned second-team All-HISD as a junior and honorable mention All-HISD as a sophomore, and made District 20-5A All-Star by the Houston Chronicle her senior year. DeBoise is the daughter of Terry and Jacie DeBoise.

Fallon Ellis, Iowa State University
Position: Forward, guard
High school: Westbury Christian High School

About Ellis: Ellis is a sophomore forward and guard for Iowa State University. She is a 2010 graduate of Westbury Christian High School in Houston, where she was a four-time letter winner for the Wildcats. Ellis earned all-state honors from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and TAPPS, was a 2011 McDonald's All-American game nominee and also earned all-state honors as a junior. Ellis is from Missouri City and is the daughter of Sonya Watkins Ellis.
