Fleetwood resident Garcia training as member of U.S. long track ice speed team
Fleetwood resident Jonathan Garcia is currently training in Salt Lake City as a member of the United States long track ice speed team.
Fleetwood resident Jonathan Garcia is currently training in Salt Lake City as a member of the United States long track ice speed team.
Also a member of 2012-13 World Cup Team, Garcia is currently ranked third in the U.S. in the 1000-meter distance race. He is also in the world's Top 20 at the same distance.
Garcia began skating in 1994 at the age of 7 in the sport of inline skating. He switched to ice in 2007.
After spending a full season on the ice, it was discovered his talent lies in short track speed skating, which is what he is currently training for in Salt Lake City.
