Houston Memorial grad Staff plays in Texas State loss
Houston Memorial High School graduate Matt Staff scored four points in Texas State University's 79-64 home loss to conference rival Denver on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos, the Texas State website reported.
The Texas State senior forward also recorded two rebounds, three steals and a block for the Bobcats, who are 7-16 on the season and 3-8 in the Western Athletic Conference.
Texas State's next game is Thursday, Feb. 7 at University of Texas at Arlington.
Staff played at Memorial High School in 2005-2009 for coach Dave Lay. Both Rivals.com and Scout.com rated him as a two-star recruit at the beginning of 2008-2009. He carried a 3.75 GPA and was ranked in the Top-10 by RCSSports.com for the Houston area - Top-20 in Texas by TexasHoops.com. He is the son of Richard and Victoria.
