Memorial grad Staff contributes to Texas State victory
Houston Memorial High School graduate Matt Staff scored 12 points in a 74-61 home win by Texas State University over Lamar University on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Montagne Center in Beaumont, the Texas State website reported.
The senior forward also recorded 11 rebounds, an assist and two blocks for the Bobcats, who improved to 8-19 on the season.
Texas State's next game is 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at home against Seattle University.
Staff played at Memorial High School in 2005-2009 for coach Dave Lay. Both Rivals.com and Scout.com rated him as a two-star recruit at the beginning of 2008-2009. He carried a 3.75 GPA and was ranked in the Top-10 by RCSSports.com for the Houston area - Top-20 in Texas by TexasHoops.com. He is the son of Richard and Victoria.
